Pet Food Analysis - Part 2

Pet Food Testing - For Pet Food Safety!

Pet food analysis and pet food testing of pet food distributors are common due to past incidents of tainted pet food. As an alternative, make organic homemade pet food recipes; especially if your animal has a pet food allergy.

Unfortunately, the pet food industry has demonstrated serious problems with pet food safety and health (given the contamination of pet food in recent years). This means that testing and pet food analysis is growing ever-more important. Read veterinarian reviews that provide pet food comparisons and analysis.

There are good and ethical pet food distributors; make sure you take the time to research and review your pet food supplier if you buy commercial products (you should also do so with your organic suppliers - to make sure that they use the proper certified organic products - look for the label).

However, if you feed your pet organic pet food, you will not need to do a pet food analysis or pet food comparison, as there are organic pet foods standards developed to ensure some level of regulation in the organic pet food industry.

You will also not need to do an analysis or comparison, if you use organic homemade pet food recipes to produce your own pet foods. This is a very good option if your pet has pet food allergies - talk with your veterinarian to get some advice relating to your pet's allergies. Make sure that if you produce homemade pet food that you keep and store it safely.

In evaluating organic pet foods we need to have some understanding of organic food certification and the law and standards that underpin it. A brief overview follows, but for more detailed information on EU/UK standards, please click here.

and Organic Pet Food Safety

In the UK, organic foods have been regulated by the European Union since 1992 (EU-Eco-regulation). The production of organic food in the UK is therefore bound to certain standards by law.

Further, the renowned Soil Association has developed further criteria to ensure that quality organic food standards are met. Please read the Organic Food Standards - Soil Association information to better understand the standards and regulations - particularly in relation to animal welfare.

In the USA, organic foods for humans have been regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which, since 2002, has had the National Organic Program (NOP) that also oversees the production of organic pet foods. organic pet food, pet food analysis

Any pet food product that is certified as organic must pass stringent regulations at all points of production. If a product meets the requirements and is in compliance with organic labelling regulations, the name or code of the certifying agency as well as their contact information will appear on the product's packaging.

Whether in the UK or the USA, all organic certifying agencies are mandated by their governing bodies to enforce regulations and standards to see that all ingredients are handled, grown, processed, stored, and packaged organically.

In this way, we know that when we buy organic for our pets we know we are giving them food that is free of toxic chemicals, drugs, GM materials, and anything that might be rejected for human consumption.

We are also contributing to animal welfare in terms of both livestock and wildlife, as well as the environment in general.

Pet Food Analysis:
So Why is Organic Pet Food the Better Choice?

Organic pet food and treats come from farms and factories that use quality certified organic materials and ingredients that contain no chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers, growth hormones, antibiotics, toxic chemical preservatives or other harmful ingredients. Pets that are fed organic pet food typically are healthier, with fewer allergies and digestive problems, and often live longer lives.

In addition, as mentioned above, the manufacturers must follow the law and standards that support environmental health and ecological balance.

The Relationship between Cat and Dog Allergies and Food

Dog food allergies are common in canines. And cats are also known to be sensitive to some ingredients in their foods. The best approach is to change foods and try to isolate the brand that is causing the problem.

However while your pet is trying to recover from skin itchiness and flakiness related to allergies, treat them with Allergy Itch Ease, which temporarily relieves skin allergies and itch.

It is an FDA-registered natural remedy containing 100% homeopathic ingredients known for their ability to soothe and relieve dry and itchy skin and allergies, as well as support the health of the skin in cats and dogs.

All products are free of gluten, artificial flavors, colorants and preservatives. Always consult with your veterinarian about this, or other, treatments.
