Are organic food advantages worth the cost of growing, buying, cooking and/or eating natural and organic food? The answer is yes! What is organic food and why do you need to use organics in your meals?

When you commit to eating a healthy, balanced organic diet, one topic often comes up; namely are the organic food advantages significant? Natural and organic food is one key to getting more nutrition into your system, and detoxifying your body.

Just think of all the processing, additives and preservatives in most commercial food. When you start eating organic, you get none of that; it's just nature at Her best!

Among the many organic food advantages is the flavor of the fruits and vegetables. Like any produce, the fresher you get your organic products, the better.

And the good news is that organic foods are easier to access than ever before: at farmers' markets, grocery stores, online shopping, and other organic food suppliers (such as direct organic fruit delivery, or organic meat delivery, or organic vegetable delivery).

The best organic foods are foods that are grown locally, think the '100 mile rule'; which means that you don't want to be importing your carrots, broccoli and lettuce from half a country away (or further).

Fresh picked and fresh eaten organic fruits and vegetables will hold their nutritional value better, will taste better and will cook (and if necessary, preserve) better.

Additionally, growing and producing food organically results in no chemical additives, preservatives or other fillers. Organic food simply tastes better, and is better for you, than items prepared with highly processed items.

Organic food is highly regulated in the United States, in Canada, the U.K. and in a growing number of countries world-wide.

For example, in order to get the USDA Certified Organic label, the food must be grown or produced without artificial color; artificial flavor; genetic modification; free of pesticides, growth hormones, antibiotics, chemical fertilizers; etc. In other words, what you see is what you get, and NOTHING else.

Additionally, organic food isn't highly processed. Every aspect of the organic item is monitored; from soil to seed to harvest to packaging. Many organic food companies try to keep their packaging minimalistic so that it reflects the earth-first philosophy on which organic farming hinges.

Natural and Organic Food: Cost Factors

Organic food advantages come from the way in which the food is produced; which is work-intensive. That means the price on those products will be a little higher than other commercial products. However you are getting more nutritional value per piece, and you are doing 'no harm' to the environment!

When the budget is tight, however, just limit yourself to a few organic items. Even adding only one or two organic side dishes can improve your health, boost energy and help your body's immunity. And if you're really trying to save money, grow your own organic food!

If you can afford to go wholly organic, it feels good to know that you're supporting many family farms, neighboring communities, and sustainable agriculture.

Better still, you'll always know what goes into your food. Where pesticide-laden products have been shown to increase our risks for cancer and heart disease, organics hold no such risks. In fact, they help you live a far healthier life!
