Teach Your Children the Benefits of Organic Food

Healthy Food Tips for Kids: teaching healthy eating to kids is an important life skill. The benefits of organic food are in taste and nutrients; and the fact that chemical-free is healthy food for children.


Kids need to learn at an early age the basics of healthy eating. If you teach them while they are young it is so much easier for them to be prepared for the future. It is never too late to teach or learn about healthy food, though.

Limiting sugar and high preservative foods are important for healthy eating. However, it is equally important to educate kids on why organic fresh fruits and vegetables are so much better for our body.

Kids from a young age can understand that our bodies need energy just like cars need gas. If we fill our bodies up with foods lacking in vitamins we won't be as efficient compared to if we fill ourselves up with healthy, organic food.

Healthy Food Tips for Kids

Here are some of our favorite healthy food tips that will help you and your family get started in making healthy lifestyle changes.

  1. Getting kids involved in the kitchen with you teaches them a hands on experience creating and working with food.

    When kids cook in the kitchen they are more apt to eat what they had a hand in cooking. With this philosophy in mind you can see how important it is to teach and let kids cook fruits, vegetables, healthy lunches, snacks, breakfast and dinners.

    Finding easy kid recipes with simple directions and not many ingredients is a good place to start.

    You may think having the kids help takes more work, and it probably will, but it is such an important opportunity to give your kids this experience. You can reserve one night a week or on the weekend and take turns having a kids cooking night or morning.

  2. A fun way to teach kids about food facts is to grow an organic garden with them.

    Plan together what you will plant and what you can cook with your fresh produce. Tomatoes can be made into salsa or spaghetti sauce or lettuce can create fresh green salads.

    Dig in the dirt together as a family and cook together the fruits of your labor. Kids often times are so excited to eat what they watched grow, your fresh vegetables may not even make it to the dinner table!

  3. If you want kids to eat healthy, one of the best healthy food tips is to give them easy access to it. Keep fresh cut organic carrot sticks, organic pepper sticks or organic cucumber slices in the fridge for easy snacking.

    Organic fruits such as apples, oranges and bananas can be placed in a fruit bowl easily reachable on the kitchen counter. Think of what your kids healthy favorites are and make sure they are easy to snack on.

    Also include some new things they've never tried or produce they don't like. The more kids see fruit and vegetables the more curious they will be to taste them. Equally important is that kids will watch what you eat so make sure your choices are healthy as well.

  4. Limiting dessert to special occasions or once a week makes eating healthy easier. It is much easier to do this when treats and sweets are not available in the house.

Get the whole family involved in implementing these healthy food tips in your diet. Every little step you take can improve your health.

Natural Soil Aeration

Soil with a good population of worms in it is a healthy soil. If your existing soil has plenty of worms then you just need to keep them happy while your vegetables grow.

Worms in your soil keep it aerated and maintain a functioning drainage system. Worms are, in effect, tilling your soil.
